Safety first
Stop using a door that appears unstable, off track, unusually heavy or unable to secure. Do not handle garage-door springs or loose high-tension cables.
Sticking or excessive operating force
Internal wear, damage, poor alignment or a binding door can make the bar difficult to operate.
The door does not relatch
The latch, strike, closer, hinges and door position should be considered together.
Loose or damaged components
Movement in the device or mounting area may require repair, reinforcement or replacement.
Replacement may be required for obsolete hardware
Severely damaged or unsupported hardware may not be a good candidate for repeated repair.
